We return from our break this week to welcome back Mark Anbinder, the web communications manager at Cornell University.  We saw Mark just last week at the HighEdWeb Conference in Hartford, CT.  We discuss the conference and talk about what experiences we enjoy at events like this.  As it turns out, Jackie and Mark both have new vehicles with Apple CarPlay. That new feature has allowed Mark to binge listen to the podcast, and he shares with us a list of his favorite episodes. We finally end the show talking about our experiences with our Apple Watches and Mark talks about his Swatch.

jon-stephen stansel & the language lesson

_39A0562Episode 26 is with Jon-Stephen Stansel, Social Media Coordinator at Texas State University. JS just started this new job, and had a very interesting journey bringing him to Texas. We chat about this unique path, and get a language lesson along the way. Lougan geeks out a little bit about Japanese culture and language, and we also talk about JS’ introduction to social media in his previous position while discussing its evolution. In his new job, JS works with a larger team, allowing him to focus on social media strategy, something that we decide has both pros and cons. We close the podcast with a mini Apple Watch review, getting JS’ take on it as well.

jackie, lougan & an apple watch review

IMG_4600Episode twenty doesn’t have a guest because this week we decided to do an Apple Watch review. We cover everything from the physical feel of the watch to the ways to navigate, touch, swipe, and rotate through notifications. We also talk about the good and bad of notifications on the watch, and the best ways to manage them, including text message notifications and emails. Of course, we talk about the fitness aspect of the Apple Watch, with more gamification than ever before. Both Lougan and Jackie have used different third party fitness and running apps, and we even take a look at FitBit stats to compare with the Apple Watch. We close with the most important and useful feature of all; telling time.
